Cancel AOL

Cancel AOL AccountDid you know that you can keep your AOL email address and not pay anything?

No, probably not. That is because AOL does not go out of it’s way to inform customers that there is no need to pay it a monthly fee anymore.

Canceling your paid AOL account and switching to their free plan is relatively easy. Before you begin, you’ll need a few things:

Once you have that, there are two ways to cancel: (1) Call the phone number listed on your credit card statement; (2) Cancel online. We’ll go through the steps of canceling online.

Cancel Your AOL Account

  1. ┬áSign into AOL’s My Account with your master username and password.
    Cancel AOL: Step 1
  2. Answer their Account Security Question and click Continue.
    Cancel AOL: Step 2
  3. If prompted, select I already have a High Speed Connection and click View Plans.Cancel AOL: Step 3
  4. Under your current subscription, at the bottom of the page, click Cancel My Billing.
  5. Review the confirmation page. To convert to the free AOL account, select a reason for canceling from the drop-down menu and then click Cancel My Billing.
    Cancel AOL: Step 4

That’s it! You’ve now canceled your AOL account and kept your aol.com email address for free.

Please let us know in the comments below if these steps worked for you or if you need any additional help.

  1. I tried that and it told me I didn’t have an account but there was money taken out of mt checkbook for an aol account. I thought all I had was the free account. Please refund the money that was taken out of my checking account.

I need to stop because I never use your aol email or visit aol since two years. I consider you are stealing my money. Bynow I want to cancel my aol account and billing PLEASE

  10. Well after 2 hours on the phone Friday I finally got a cancellation number today Monday. I wrote a letter stating I cancelled and went to fax it and AOL’s fax number 703-433-7283 is OUT OF SERVICE I again had to call and got a number that transmitted 703-466-9583. Aol has taken a page out of Direct Tv’s book. Keep all documentation of fax’s and calls so you can notify your credit card company PLUS the news media is always able to help when companies like Aol stick it to you.
